This week's letter to the editor from Rotarian Barry Gould seeking our support for the annual Casino Night reminds us of just how important this club is to so many causes on Anna Maria Island and beyond.

From providing programs at Anna Maria Elementary School to water systems in Haiti; from helping feed hungry children throughout the county and worldwide to donating and funding local arts and artists, the Rotary's involvement in the community is nothing short of remarkable.

That is why we are encouraging everyone to turn out for the club's annual Casino Night this Saturday. It is their main fund raiser for the year and the money brought in on this one evening is critical to the club's ability to help those in need.

Besides all that, it is a night of great food, music, prizes and, of course, professional gaming tables, and is one of the best parties of the year.

If you are looking for a night on the town without having to leave Anna Maria Island, consider spending your time and money with some folks who really do make a difference.
