Free movie on fatherhood
CrossPointe Fellowship is sponsoring a free showing of the movie "Courageous" on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Anna Maria Island Community Center, 407 Magnolia, Anna Maria. Free popcorn, ice cream and drinks are included.
Honor begins at home for four police officers. Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, David Thomson and Shane Fuller are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. They get by as fathers until a tragedy hits and the four are forced to become both mother and father to their children. It's a movie with a message. Children and parents are welcome.
Pines holds street sale
Residents of the Pines Mobile Home Park will be taking it to the streets on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days for their annual street sale. Check out the tables of items for sale and catch a bargain. They will also have a bake sale featuring homemade pies. Remembering the King
The King of Rock and Roll lives as the Anna Maria Island Community Center presents Memories of Elvis featuring Billy Lindsey at the Center, 407 Magnolia Ave, Anna Maria, on Saturday, Feb. 25, starting at 6 p.m.for a comfort food buffet dinner and the show from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person or tables of eight at $240. Bingo in Bradenton Beach

String quartet on the lawn
The Amernet Quartet will perform music from the Spanish and Latin American classical traditions on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 5:30 at DeSoto National Memorial, 8300 DeSoto Memorial Highway, at the north end of 75th Street in Bradenton. The group formed in 1991 while all of the members were attending the Juilliard School.

Rotary gets Tanzania report
Past Rotary Club District Governor Roger Hayward talks of efforts to improve conditions in Tanzania when the Rotary Club of Anna Maria Island meets for fellowship at its weekly luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at noon at the BeachHouse restaurant, 200 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach. The meeting is open to all members and visiting Rotarians. Lunch is $10 from a special BeachHouse menu.
Art at Maritime Museum
The Florida Maritime Museum, 4415 119th St. W., Cortez, is hosting a night of art appreciation with artist Dianne Tymeson on Friday, March 2, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The artwork on display is also available for purchase. Refreshments will be served.
Three day rummage sale

The Anna Maria Sail and Power Squadron is offering a non-certified CPR seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7. Help needed for Island needy

Kirby Stewart serves meals
Enjoy a pot roast and pork roast dinner on the first and third Monday of each month at American Legion Kirby Stewart Post 24, 2000 75th St. W., Bradenton. The meal includes potato, vegetables and dessert, and the cost is $7. Seating starts at 4:30 and ends at 7 p.m.

The West Central Florida area Agency on Aging's Elder Helpline offers support for the growing numbers of caretakers and their aging parents by helping callers make informed decisions about available assistance. SHINE Program needs volunteers
